PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
• Born to former Tayabas Mayor Pepito G. Silang (deceased) and Teresita B. Alandy on May 22, 1961
• Completed a course in dentistry at Centro Escolar University-Manila in 1984 and obtained the license for the practice of Doctor of Dental Medicine the following year.
• Selected Eisenhower Fellow in 2000
• Completed the academic requirements for Master in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines
• Elected Tayabas Municipal Mayor in 1988 and went on to complete 3 full terms (of 10 years) until 1998.
• After a 3-year sabbatical leave, ran and won the election in 2001 as Mayor.
• Written on the history book of Tayabas at the last Municipal Mayor and the first City Mayor by winning the 2007 elections with 62% mandate.
• 24/7 “sales agent” of the Tayabas’ arts and culture all over the world including the unique “Umpukan sa Tagayan” ritual.
• Founder of the famous Tayabas original festivals including the 21-year old Mayohan sa Tayabas, the highly successful Aguyod Festival in October and the noble Taytsinoy Festival.
